Where am I?

Six months ago, I was sitting at a lonesome, corner desk in Midtown. I was probably one of the most unhappy graphic designers in the world, or so I felt. I was organizing cell phone graphics. I was fighting with my supervisors to create new and intriguing art. I was struggling to keep myself interested in my profession. That was six months ago and thats the problem with the world of design and art. Some of us are here, striving so hard to create to full potential, to give the world something we feel isn't present. We want to express what we feel is dying to get out, and want to give all we can to this cause. Unfortunately, there's the idea of money that also comes into play. Money really fuels the way the current world is spinning, and we all wish to have it present. This is why, for such a long time, I dealt with a mild-mannered graphic designer job. And this is also why I say now, to all of you graphic designers in the world, say no to cell-phone companies, no matter the pay. They suck the life out of you. :)

Where am I now? A better place creatively, thats for sure. I'm now designing Movie Posters for the film Industry. What I love about my job is that i really feel like I have something to bring to the table. It's a constant challenge for me. I feel equipped in this field. I understand what people like to see, and what catches one's eyes. I love films and their messages, and when a piece of key art displays the wonder of a film it makes me happy as a school girl. It's as simple as that. There are it's set-backs, I will not lie, but it's much more fulfiling than anything I have come across thus far.

I'm happy with my artistic life right now, which is something I havent felt in a long time. It's one part of my life that i feel powerful in. Hopefully my career continues to flourish and move forward, as I really do want to give as much of myself as I can to this industry.

I'll be tackling a lot more editorial design soon as well, having just about booked jobs at Movmnt Magazine and Circuit Noize Magazine. This is certainly one aspect of design I'm looking to grow with and contribute my style of design work to. I'll update more on that and any publically released posters in the coming weeks.
